Over the last 12 months Chippenham Corsham and Box Primary Care Network has delivered over 73,000 covid vaccinations to eligible patients, including in care homes and our housebound residents. Our 5 practice teams have all risen to the challenge and have vaccinated local patients as well as visitors from as far away as Dublin and Norfolk. We are very proud of this achievement which we have accomplished whilst also delivering our usual high standard of primary health care to our patients, at what has been a very demanding time.
We are now facing the prospect of the NHS’ busiest winter ever. For this reason we have made the decision to step back from the vaccination programme so that we can focus on our main role of General Practice. We also want to take the additional pressure off our wonderful staff, who have been working 6-day weeks for many months to administer vaccines at the weekends.
Therefore, from Sunday December the 12th we will no longer be offering any COVID vaccinations locally in Chippenham. However, please be assured that the vaccine is still available from mass vaccination centres (our local centre is at Bath Racecourse) and from some pharmacies. If you need a vaccination this can be booked through the National Booking Service online at:
- Or by phoning 119 (free of charge)
More information on the local rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine, including a detailed list of FAQs is available online at: www.bswccg.nhs.uk
During the past year we have been supported by a wonderful team of volunteers without whom we could not have achieved so much. We are immensely grateful for the role they have played in the success of the vaccination programme. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in the last 12 months, including those who provided feedback on their experience, allowing us to improve and achieve such wonderful vaccination rates. It has been an honour to take part in a piece of history!
