Repeat Prescriptions

A repeat prescription is generated by handing in, posting or faxing the counterfoil attached to your previous prescription.

Please use the counterfoil wherever possible and give us 48 hrs notice as we do many per day and hand written or “urgent” ones (? forgotten) slow up the system.

Prescriptions ordered for collection from a local pharmacy may require 72 hours before being available as pharmacies only collect from us once each day.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
